As dog boarders, we care about all dogs. Whether they’re strays, rescues or staying away from their own loving family.
Furry Towers is owned and run by a couple, Sarah and Dave.
We both have lots of experience with dogs, having worked in rescue centres, cared for strays, boarded dogs belonging to friends, family and clients, and looked after our own beloved Border Collie, Beardsley, who sadly passed away in 2021.
We are based in Whitley Bay, a wonderful coastal town in the north east of England. We live in a 3-bed semi detached house with a garden. We are hard working, honest and friendly. We don’t currently have our own dog, so we are very happy to offer our loving home to others.
Sarah has a lifelong passion for all animals but is particularly fond of dogs.
She loves to absorb them in play and enrich their lives through mental stimulation. She is also partial to whipping out a brush to keep their furry coats in tip-top condition!
Sarah has worked with dogs at rescue centres in Southern Thailand and in the Caribbean.
She is friendly and approachable. Organised and reliable. Dog’s respond quickly to her affections and her keen abilities to engage their minds.
Sarah is qualified in Canine Care, Behaviour and Welfare. She is also trained in Dog First Aid.
David works full time from home, so he is able to keep your dog company throughout the day.
As a keen hill walker, he loves an adventurous woodland stroll or a wander along the coast, made all the better with a furry companion or two!
David has worked with dogs at rescue centres in Northern Thailand and in the Caribbean. He currently volunteers remotely with Helpaws – an animal welfare charity based in St. Lucia.
He is patient and calm. A confident pack leader, respected and dependable. Dogs usually respond to him swiftly with trust and affection.

Before boarding, you’ll want to be sure we have the knowledge, skills and experience to provide your dog with the very best care. You might be comforted to know that we both hold Ofqual Level 3 qualifications in Canine Care, Behaviour and Welfare.
This widely recognised diploma has been developed by animal care professionals specifically for dog boarders and meets the “Higher Standards” required by Animal Activity Licensing.
Ultimately, being qualified dog boarders helps ensure the well-being, happiness, and contentment of your dog during their stay.
All commercial dog boarding establishments need a licence, even those based in a domestic home environment. This is to ensure the welfare of the animals and the safety of the public.
We’re proud to hold an Animal Activity Licence issued by North Tyneside Council; achieving a four star rating ★★★★ which is the highest possible for a dog boarding business in it’s first year!
We are committed to meeting the higher standards of animal welfare outlined in statutory guidance. Our License Number is: 23/1567/ANIMAL and this can be verified on the Public Register.

Our beloved Border Collie, Beardsley, is very much the motivation and inspiration for us to open up our home and welcome furry visitors. He is still missed every day. If you’ve recently suffered a pet bereavement, or facing loss, we strongly recommend you talk to Blue Cross about it.
Boarding your dog can be a big decision! Particularly if its your first time. You’ll want to be sure they’re in good hands.
To help you get comfortable, we suggest an informal “meet and greet”, usually over a cuppa! Together, we can discuss your dog’s needs and make sure we’re all good fit!
Was there something we missed?
If you have any questions or special requests, please don’t hesitate to ask. We’ll do our very best to accomodate you and your dog’s needs.
